Differences Between Memory Machine Editions
Memory Machine is available in two editions, Standard Edition for managing memory on individual hosts and Advanced Edition for managing clusters of hosts at the enterprise level.

  MemVerge Memory Machine (Memory Machine) enables applications to expand from volatile memory (DRAM) into persistent memory (PMEM).

    Using volatile memory (DRAM) and persistent memory (PMEM) in combination enables applications to expand memory capacity relatively cheaply and to persist memory data objects, a capability that previously was only possible by writing to storage devices.

    The Transparent Memory Service (TMS) intercepts Linux glibc.so function calls and reroutes them to the Distributed Persistent Memory Engine (DPME), which manages the MemVerge PMEM store.

You can administer and use MemVerge Memory Machine using the Command Line Interface (CLI) on any installed host.

MemVerge provides additional instructions for some popular applications supported by Memory Machine, either to assist with complex setup or to support additional functionality.

Differences Between Memory Machine Editions

Memory Machine is available in two editions, Standard Edition for managing memory on individual hosts and Advanced Edition for managing clusters of hosts at the enterprise level.

The license under which a host is run determines whether Standard Edition or Advanced Edition functionality is available to that host. See Understanding the Software License.

You can run Memory Machine Standard Edition as a data service on any number of standalone hosts. In this mode, each host runs the Memory Machine data service independently to manage its volatile and persistent memory. There is no coordination between hosts, and no snapshot or other data services are available.

With Memory Machine Advanced Edition, one host acts as a management center and controls any number of data hosts. The data hosts can be licensed under on-demand or reserved licenses, both of which are based on aggregate amount of memory under management. The license manager can also manage hosts under individual Standard Edition licenses.
