Reconfiguring an Application Instance

Change the DRAM and HugePage settings for an application instance while it is running on the Configuration Details Tab of the Applications Console.

Before you begin

Start an application instance in Memory Machine.

About this task

Do the following to change the DRAM cache size and/or turn HugePages on or off for an application instance without stopping the instance.

Procedure

  1. In the Applications Console, choose the Configuration Details Tab.
  2. Click Edit.
Note: The Edit icon is available only if the application instance is running. You cannot change the memory allocation of a snapshot.
  3. Modify the DRAM cache size fields:
    DRAM Tier Size value
The amount of DRAM used as tiering memory for this application instance. See The Application DRAM Tier.
    DRAM Tier Size units
Units for the tier size, either megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB).
  4. Optional: Change the Huge Page DRAM field to control whether HugePages are used (true) or not (false). See Configuring HugePages.
HugePage status can only be changed when DRAM tiering is off (set to zero). To change HugePage status, you must:
    1. Change DRAM Tier Size to 0.
    2. Save your changes.
    3. Change the value of Huge Page DRAM.
    4. Save your changes.
    5. Change DRAM Tier Size back to its original (or a new) non-zero size value.
