Restoring a Snapshot

Choose Restore in the Snapshot Information Dialog to restore a snapshot.

About this task

Warning: If a snapshot fails to restore properly, the cause could be a dependency upgrade. See Cannot Restore Snapshots.

Procedure

  1. Choose a snapshot in the Snapshot Display Panel. See Viewing Snapshots.
  2. Optional: If the application instance has an associated TTY session, M3C tries to reconstitute the session using tmux. You can assign a name to this tmux session. See Restoring a TTY Session.
  3. Optional: If files were saved with the snapshot, check the Force overwrite files Checkbox box to overwrite the current versions of those files on the filesystem.
Warning: The overwritten files are not recoverable.
Important: If any of the files exist and you do not choose to overwrite them, the restore fails.
  4. In the Snapshot Information Dialog, click Restore.
The Restore Instance Dialog shows the snapshot's memory profile, log trace status, and the MemVerge Memory Allocation Service communication port.
  5. In the Restore Instance Dialog, click Restore.
