Overview and Installation
Getting started with MemVerge Memory Machine requries that you understand some background information about how persistent memory works. You can then install Memory Machine on a server and begin monitoring memory usage and capturing application snapshots.
Using the Memory Machine Management Center
Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) is a web UI application available on the host that is running the Memory Machine Management Service. You can view system resources and performance metrics; create and restore snapshots; schedule jobs; and more in M3C.
Using the Command Line Interface
You can administer and use MemVerge Memory Machine using the Command Line Interface (CLI) on any installed host.

Capturing a Redis Snapshot Using Memory Machine Management Center

Before you begin

Create at least one instance of a Redis server. See Example: Running a Redis Server Instance.

About this task

This example describes how to capture a snapshot of a Redis server in Memory Machine using the Applications Console.

Procedure

Open the Applications Console. See The Hosts Console Instances Page.
From the Instance Table, expand the Redis server instance you created in Starting a Redis Server.
Click Capture Snapshot.
In the Take a Snapshot Dialog, enter a label in the Snapshot Name Text Box.
Click OK.

Results

The snapshot is taken, a node (probably green; see Snapshot Statuses) appears in the Snapshot Display Panel, and the snapshot count and used memory are updated throughout the Memory Machine Management Center.

The snapshot label that you entered is prepended to a randomly generated identifier to create the snapshot ID. For example, if you entered redis-test-1 as your snapshot name, the snapshot label looks something like this: redis-test-1_97e38023.
