Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) is a web UI application available on the host that is running the Memory Machine Management Service. You can view system resources and performance metrics; create and restore snapshots; schedule jobs; and more in M3C.
Getting Familiar with the Memory Machine Management Center
Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) is a web-based user interface (UI) from which an administrator can view memory and processor statistics and capture and restore application snapshots on any number of servers under management by Memory Machine.
Logging In
Log in to the Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) to view memory usage and to manage MemVerge Memory Machine in an easy-to-use graphical environment.

Overview and Installation
Getting started with MemVerge Memory Machine requires that you understand some background information about how persistent memory works. You can then install Memory Machine on a server and begin monitoring memory usage and capturing application snapshots.
Using the Memory Machine Management Center

  - Logging In
    Log in to the Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) to view memory usage and to manage MemVerge Memory Machine in an easy-to-use graphical environment.
  - The Memory Machine Management Center Console Screens
    The Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) has several console screens: a Global Dashboard, a Hosts Console, an Applications Console, an Alerts Console, a Jobs Console, a Usage Report Console, Logs Console, and a Settings Console.
  - Changing Consoles
    Choose a console from the Console Menu in the upper left corner of the application screen.
  - Installing a Software License
    MemVerge Memory Machine requires a software license to run. The type of license depends on on which license model you have purchased and determines which edition of Memory Machine, Advanced or Standard, is installed. See oxy_ex-3/topics/c_mvmm_advanced_vs_standard_edition.html.
  - Setting Login Security
    Configure security for Memory Machine by using the Security Settings Console to set parameters for local login, LDAP, or both.
  - Logging Out
    Log out of the MemVerge Memory Machine from the User Menu.
- Managing Hosts
  Use the Hosts Console to manage hosts and to view statistics about application instances, memory performance, and snapshots on individual hosts and host groups.
- Managing Applications
  You can view application instances from the Applications Console. Application instances must be started and stopped using the command line.
- Using Snapshots in Memory Machine Management Center
  Use ZeroIO Snapshot from Memory Machine Management Center to capture the state of a running process. You can then stop the process and restore it to the running state captured in the snapshot.
- Viewing Metrics and System Status
  The Memory Machine Management Center makes it easy to view and compare running processes, snapshots, system resources and performance metrics.
Using the Command Line Interface
You can administer and use MemVerge Memory Machine using the Command Line Interface (CLI) on any installed host.
Working with Applications
MemVerge provides additional instructions for some popular applications supported by Memory Machine, either to assist with complex setup or to support additional functionality.

Logging In

Log in to the Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) to view memory usage and to manage MemVerge Memory Machine in an easy-to-use graphical environment.

Before you begin

Install the Management Service on a host, either standalone or concurrent with data services. See the Memory Machine Installation Guide for installation instructions. Ensure that data services are running on at least one PMem-equipped host. See Running Memory Machine Services.

About this task

You can manage application instances, capture and delete snapshots, and view application and resource statistics on a host using the web UI.

Important: The first time you attempt to log in, you are asked to choose an M3C database and to set up an authentication method for logging into M3C. See Choosing a Database in Memory Machine Management Center and Setting Login Security.

To log in to M3C:

Procedure

Open M3C in your browser.
https://ip_address:port

Where

ip_address

is the IP address of the server.

port

is the port configured for the server. MemVerge recommends leaving the port set to the default, 443. If you must you can change the server port by editing the httpsPort parameter in /etc/memverge/mmctl.yml.

Note: Only HTTPS is available. The unencrypted HTTP protocol is not supported. If the server has a firewall, make sure that incoming access is granted to the port on which web access to M3C is configured.
On the Login Page, enter your username in the Username field.
Enter your password in the Password field.
Click Sign In.

Results

Memory Machine Management Center displays the Global Dashboard. See The Global Dashboard.
