      Use the Database Settings Console to choose the database used to store your UI configuration, usage data, and other information for the Management Service.

      One host in your network runs the Management Service. Unless you are using only file-based Standard Edition licenses, you must install one license using the Management Service in order to use Memory Machine.

      Authorize a user to use Memory Machine by adding the user to the mvmm group.

    MemVerge Memory Machine uses several YAML-formatted configuration files, installed in the /etc/memverge directory. Two of these, mvmallocd.yml and mvmalloc.yml contain user-configurable parameters.
Using the Memory Machine Management Center
Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) is a web UI application available on the host that is running the Memory Machine Management Service. You can view system resources and performance metrics; create and restore snapshots; schedule jobs; and more in M3C.
Using the Command Line Tools
You can administer and use MemVerge Memory Machine using a Command Line Interface (CLI).
Memory Machine Administration
MemVerge Memory Machine can be installed and run using CLI commands. Many administrative tasks can be performed using the Memory Machine Management Center web interface.
Working with Applications
MemVerge provides additional instructions for some popular applications supported by Memory Machine, either to assist with complex setup or to support additional functionality.

Memory Machine Platforms

Memory Machine can be installed on a range of physical ("bare metal") or virtual server platforms, either in a private data center or in a data center belonging to a cloud service provider. These platforms include the following:

Physical hosts that contain both DRAM and PMem
Physical hosts that contain DRAM only
Virtual machines that have access to DRAM resources and NVDIMMs (non-volatile DIMMs, which are virtual representations of physical PMem modules)
Virtual machines that have access to DRAM resources only

The procedures in this installation guide focus on the most common scenario: Memory Machine installation on physical hosts that contain both DRAM and PMem. These are systems with second-generation Intel® Xeon® processors (two-, four- or eight-socket servers) or third-generation Intel Xeon processors (two- or four-socket servers) coupled with Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory DIMMs (100 or 200 Series modules for second or third generation Xeon processors, respectively).

Additional processor types are supported for DRAM-only installations on either virtual or physical hosts. Installation on a virtual host that has access to NVDIMMs assumes that the Intel Optane Persistent Memory modules have been configured prior to the instantiation of the virtual machine.
