Using the Memory Machine Management Center
Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) is a web UI application available on the host that is running the Memory Machine Management Service. You can view system resources and performance metrics; create and restore snapshots; schedule jobs; and more in M3C.
Getting Familiar with the Memory Machine Management Center
Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) is a web-based user interface (UI) from which an administrator can view memory and processor statistics and capture and restore application snapshots on any number of servers under management by Memory Machine.
Installing a Software License
MemVerge Memory Machine requires a software license to run. The type of license depends on on which license model you have purchased and determines which edition of Memory Machine, Advanced or Standard, is installed. See oxy_ex-3/topics/c_mvmm_advanced_vs_standard_edition.html.
Determining Which License a Host is Using
Use the License Settings Console or Global Search to determine whether a licensed host is using a Standard Edition, Advanced Edition, or file-based license.

Overview and Installation
Getting started with MemVerge Memory Machine requires that you understand some background information about how persistent memory works. You can then install Memory Machine on a server and begin monitoring memory usage and capturing application snapshots.
Using the Memory Machine Management Center

- Getting Familiar with the Memory Machine Management Center
  Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) is a web-based user interface (UI) from which an administrator can view memory and processor statistics and capture and restore application snapshots on any number of servers under management by Memory Machine.
  - Logging In
    Log in to the Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) to view memory usage and to manage MemVerge Memory Machine in an easy-to-use graphical environment.
  - The Memory Machine Management Center Console Screens
    The Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) has several console screens: a Global Dashboard, a Hosts Console, an Applications Console, an Alerts Console, a Jobs Console, a Usage Report Console, Logs Console, and a Settings Console.
  - Changing Consoles
    Choose a console from the Console Menu in the upper left corner of the application screen.
  - Installing a Software License

    - Uploading a License
      One host in your network runs the Management Service. Unless you are using only file-based Standard Edition licenses, you must install one license using the Management Service in order to use Memory Machine.
    - Updating a License
      Use the License Settings Console to update a multi-host Memory Machine software license.
    - Data Host Auto-Registration
      Memory Machine data hosts can automatically register with the Management Service, in either License Server mode or M3C mode.
    - Determining Which License a Host is Using
      Use the License Settings Console or Global Search to determine whether a licensed host is using a Standard Edition, Advanced Edition, or file-based license.
  - Setting Login Security
    Configure security for Memory Machine by using the Security Settings Console to set parameters for local login, LDAP, or both.
  - Logging Out
    Log out of the MemVerge Memory Machine from the User Menu.
- Managing Hosts
  Use the Hosts Console to manage hosts and to view statistics about application instances, memory performance, and snapshots on individual hosts and host groups.
- Managing Applications
  You can view application instances from the Applications Console. Application instances must be started and stopped using the command line.
- Using Snapshots in Memory Machine Management Center
  Use ZeroIO Snapshot from Memory Machine Management Center to capture the state of a running process. You can then stop the process and restore it to the running state captured in the snapshot.
- Viewing Metrics and System Status
  The Memory Machine Management Center makes it easy to view and compare running processes, snapshots, system resources and performance metrics.
Using the Command Line Interface
You can administer and use MemVerge Memory Machine using the Command Line Interface (CLI) on any installed host.
Working with Applications
MemVerge provides additional instructions for some popular applications supported by Memory Machine, either to assist with complex setup or to support additional functionality.

Determining Which License a Host is Using

Use the License Settings Console or Global Search to determine whether a licensed host is using a Standard Edition, Advanced Edition, or file-based license.

About this task

If the host is under management, it appears in the License Settings Console. If there are a large number of hosts under management, it can be difficult to search the License Information Table by hand.

Procedure

If you are not sure whether the host is under Memory Machine management or not, search for the host using Global Search. See Searching Memory Machine. If the host cannot be found, it is not under management.

Note: Search under the name or IP address the host was registered under. Memory Machine Global Search does not do DNS lookup.
