Uninstalling Memory Machine Data Service

Uninstall Memory Machine Data Service by running the Memory Machine uninstall script, uninstall.sh.

About this task

You must follow this procedure on each data host you want to uninstall.

Note: You must run these commands as a privileged user, either by logging in as root or by preceding each command with sudo.

Procedure

  1. Stop MemVerge Memory Allocation Service, Memory Machine Services Daemon, Snapshot service, and Memory Machine Agent:
    # systemctl stop mvmallocd mvsvcd mvcsnapd mmagent
  2. Run the uninstall script from the Memory Machine sbin directory. For example, assuming Memory Machine is in the default installation path /opt/memverge/sbin:
    # /opt/memverge/sbin/uninstall.sh
You are prompted to start the uninstall process.

Note: The uninstall script does not remove the Memory Machine data directory. This is to avoid accidentally deleting snapshots and other data.
The uninstall script then prompts you to remove the Memory Machine Agent.
Do you want to uninstall the mmagent services? [y/N]: y
  5. Press y:
    Uninstalling mmagent service...
    Removed /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/mmagent.service.
