Configuring Local Login

Configure local authentication to manage access to the Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) by granting access to a group and assigning users to the group.

Before you begin

Start M3C. See Running Memory Machine Management Service.

About this task

You must configure either local or LDAP login access before you can use M3C. See Configuring LDAP Authentication.

Procedure

  1. Choose Security Settings Console from the Console Selector.
Note: The first time you open Memory Machine, the Security Settings Console displays automatically.
  2. On the Security Settings Console, check the Local Checkbox.
  3. Enter the name of the Memory Machine group in the Memory Machine Admin Group Text Box. MemVerge recommends you set the admin group to mvmm, a group that is automatically created by the installer. Then add users to the mvmm group to grant access. See Adding a User.
This field is required; if no group is entered, the console shows an error message.
Note: This group is the same one used by LDAP login, if you choose to use LDAP. See Configuring LDAP Authentication.
  4. Enter the username and password for a user that is authorized to assign permissions on the host. For example, you can enter root and the root password.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. In the confirmation dialog, click the Continue Button.
