Installing the Management Service

Install the Management Service using the Memory Machine Package File.

Before you begin

Run the Memory Machine Package File. See Installing the Data Service. Either:

  • Skip the installation of the data service, or
  • Install the data service and continue to the Management Service portion of the script.

About this task

The Management Service monitors all the data hosts by connecting to Memory Machine Agent on each host. It also runs Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) , the web UI management interface. See Memory Machine Management Service for a list of management services.

After the data path installer has completed (or is skipped), you are prompted to install the management center. You can install only the Management Service (skipping the data center installation), or run the Management Service concurrently on a data host.

Regardless of where it is installed, you can choose to install M3C in License Server mode to manage Standard Licenses only. For more about license types, see Differences Between Memory Machine Editions.

Procedure

Choose "yes" to the management center prompt:

Respond yes to install Memory Machine Management Center (M3C) configured to manage licenses only. This choice is appropriate if you are deploying Standard Edition and have no need to manage advanced features such as snapshots.
Note: Full-featured M3C can also be used to manage only standard features; advanced functionality is disabled if a Standard License is installed. This is useful if, for example, you might want to upgrade later and don't want to reinstall M3C. See Installing a License-Only Management Center.
